About Us

History

Bill Eunson and Richard Archer, two electrical engineers from New Zealand, founded Motech Control in 1989. During the early years, Motech operated as a consultancy, providing specialist power electronic services to larger organisations. In those days the company's premises consisted of a small garden shed in Kingston, Surrey.

An early 20kW brushless drive for marine use.

By the mid-1990s, it became apparent there was a growing demand for special-purpose electronic drive units that were being used in an increasingly wide range of applications. So in 1997 Motech Control moved to its present site in West Sussex, and began the design and manufacture of purpose-built brushless motor drives.

It was about this time that the attractions of New Zealand proved too much for Richard and he decided to return there with his family. Bill, on the other hand, decided to stay. As business increased, additional engineers were recruited, and Motech was able to offer switch-mode power supplies and microprocessor-based drives to complement its original analogue product range.

Present Day

Today Motech Control is able to design and manufacture a wide range of switch-mode, power electronic products for the industrial, military and marine sectors. Purpose-built drives and power supplies remain the core of the company's operations and we are always interested to receive enquiries for these products.
